The March will occur on Friday the 10th of Decembre 2004:
Departing from Cairo, an international delegation will join a relief
convoy till Rafah, on the Egyptian-Palestinian border.
The relief convoy will carry 200 tons of rice and 200
tons of flour which have been mainly collected in the Delta villages
(region of Mansoura). The Israeli authorities have already approved
to let the foodstuffs crossing the border to Gaza
The delegation will leave Cairo by bus at 6.00am (meeting
at the Lawyers Union building at 5.30am), on Friday the 10th of December
2004. The group will join the convoy at Qantara in order to cross the
Suez Canal and will complete the trip till Rafah. Return to Cairo is
expected around 5.00pm.
Besides, on Friday, a press liaison in Cairo will deliver
and disseminate information all day long, via internet and telephone,
and be continuously in contact with members of the delegation (press
contacts and personalities).

On the occasion of the International Day for Human Rights, the Egyptian
Popular Committee in Solidarity with the Palestinian Intifada organizes
a solidarity march to Rafah accompanied by a relief convoy
The
Egyptian Popular Committee in Solidarity with the Palestinian Intifada
organizes a solidarity convoy heading for Rafah on the 10th of December
2004. Accompanying the convoy is a large popular delegation representing
human rights organizations, professional trade unions, several political
groups and committee and a number of representatives of European human
rights organizations, among who are Dr. Alima Boumedien Tery, member of
the French Senate representing Paris and former member of European parliament,
representatives of the civil campaign for the protection of the Palestinian
people (France), the international antiwar committee (Greece),).
This Egyptian - International demonstration of solidarity is a declaration
of the world's concern with the unprecedented and inhumane violations
that the Palestinian people suffer by the hands of the Zionist occupation
authorities backed and supported by the United States. The wide international
participation in the solidarity march the Ireland Palestine Solidarity
Campaign, the Foundation Pau I solidaritat catalunya (Spain reflects the
support and sympathy gained by the Palestinian cause world wide, foremost
among human rights and antiwar activists who have come to salute the persistence
and commitment of the Palestinian struggle since the occupation of Palestine.
The
Egyptian Soldiarity Committee and the international delegates seek to
draw the attention of the peoples of the world that the Palestinian people
living under Israeli occupation continue to face the most flagrant human
rights violations any people are suffering in the 21st century. What greater
violation could there be than the deprivation of a homeland, in addition
to the daily systematic killing, house demolitions and continuous deprivation
of the most basic economic and social rights.
The
Egyptian popular committee was founded on the 13th of October 2000 upon
the beginning of the Aqsa Intifada, where it mobilized both inkind and
moral and political support of the Palestinian Intifada: It has organized
26 solidarity and food and medical relief convoys, in addition to tens
of conferences, and seminars throughout the country. It has also contributed
to the establishment of tens of similar committees in the different governorates
and has finally organize the 1000.000 signature petitions: one addressed
to the president of the republic calling for breaking all relations with
Israel and the other addressing the UN Secretary General calling for an
implementation of the right to return for all Palestinians and the provision
of international protection for the Palestinian people.
